CONTROLLO
DELLE MALATTIE EREDITARIE


 


Il Club
Italiano Tchiorny Terrier intende promuovere iniziative per la prevenzione delle
patologie ereditarie comuni nelle razze canine, con particolare riferimento alle
displasie dell’anca e del gomito (HD, ED) ed alla displasia della retina
(PRA). A tal fine necessita di un ampio supporto tecnico scientifico e
veterinario e di un supporto economico per la realizzazione delle iniziative.


Per questo
nell’agosto del 2000 il Club ha stipulato un accordo con la Fondazione Salute
Animale (FSA) in Cremona, Palazzo Trecchi, presieduta dal dott.Aldo Vezzoni. 


Al fine di
accelerare il processo di controllo delle patologie scheletriche ereditarie
nella razza Terrier Nero Russo, in particolare della displasia dell’anca e del
gomito, e di costituire in tempi brevi una banca dati significativa presso la
F.S.A., il Consiglio Direttivo del Club nel dicembre 2000 ha deciso di concedere
un

Il
contributo è concesso ai primi 30 soggetti per i quali sarà richiesta la
lettura ufficiale. L’indagine radiografica potrà essere eseguita presso il
proprio veterinario di fiducia, purchè abilitato. La lastra dovrà essere
spedita alla Centrale di lettura costituita presso la FSA. E’ opportuno che il
Socio interessato richieda il rimborso direttamente alla Presidenza,
eventualmente allegando documentazione di spesa; non appena avuta comunicazione
dalla FSA dell’avvenuta lettura, il Club provvederà all’invio del
contributo.


La
convenzione stipulata fra il Club e la FSA prevede la lettura ufficiale
gratuita, salvo rimborso forfettario delle sole spese postali, si può pensare
che il monitoraggio dello status del proprio TNR possa avvenire a titolo
pressochè gratuito.


La
centrale di lettura FSA ha adottato, nel suo protocollo operativo, tutte le
direttive emanate per la displasia dell’anca dalla Commissione Scientifica
della FCI e aggiornate a Dortmund nel 1991 e dall’I.E.W.G. per quanto riguarda
la displasia del gomito. Pertanto gli esiti delle letture sono ufficialmente
riconosciuti in tutti i Paesi membri FCI.


 


MONITORAGGIO
DELL’EQUILIBRIO CARATTERIALE


 


A
far corso dall’edizione 2001 del Raduno di Campionato Sociale di Allevamento
sono stati sottoposti a prove caratteriali i soggetti di età superiore ai 15
mesi. Il conseguimento del titolo di “Campione Sociale” è vincolato al
superamento dei test caratteriali, come sancito dal regolamento di raduno
ufficialmente approvato dall’ENCI, e il risultato ottenuto viene riportato nel
libretto delle qualifiche cane.


La
scelta di rendere obbligatoria la verifica delle caratteristiche psicologiche
rappresenta un preciso indirizzo cinotecnico che il CITT vuole dare ad
allevatori e appassionati della razza: il TNR è un cane da “utilità e
difesa” e tale deve rimanere. Un TNR fedele allo standard non deve solo
corrispondere a un particolare “tipo morfologico” ma deve anche
corrispondere a un particolare “tipo comportamentale”, è imprescindibile
compito di una società specializzata, qual’ è dall’aprile 2001 il CITT, 
verificare e incoraggiare in tal senso le scelte riproduttive. 


Riprendendo
il regolamento di campionato, la prova è predisposta per valutare le qualità
naturali dei cani verificandone l’equilibrio, la socializzazione, la saldezza
di nervi e l’impulso alla difesa, ed è articolata su due test distinti:


§        
il
primo mirato a verificare il grado di adattabilità sociale e saldezza di nervi
in presenza di stimoli esterni imprevisti e violenti (indifferenza allo sparo)


§        
il
secondo mirato a verificare l’impulso alla difesa del cane di fronte ad una
situazione potenzialmente minacciosa per il suo conduttore


Per
ogni test viene attribuito un punteggio separato (“A” o “B” per la
socializzazione, “1” o “2” per la difesa) determinando quattro possibili
votazioni finali: A1, A2, B1, B2. Per essere giudicati idonei e concorre a
campione sociale il cane deve avere superato entrambi test.

I
cani esaminati non avevano mai partecipato a prove di lavoro o frequentato corsi
di addestramento alla difesa, rappresentando la situazione ottimale per gli
obiettivi dei test. Le loro reazioni, infatti, hanno costituito una indicazione
significativa di una naturale predisposizione non mediata da comportamenti
appresi o da precedenti esperienze sui campi di addestramento.


 


Tutti
i cani potenzialmente eleggibili alla prova, eccetto due, sono stati sottoposti
al test per un totale di 17 soggetti. 


Tutti
i cani hanno superato il test di socializzazione col massimo punteggio (A)
eccetto un soggetto che ha ricevuto il livello B per un leggera reazione allo
sparo. Tutti hanno dimostrato un elevato grado di socialità attraversando senza
esitazioni o aggressività il capannello di estranei rumorosi e rimanendo
tranquilli mentre il giudice si intratteneva con il conduttore. La maggior parte
dei cani sono stati del tutto indifferenti allo sparo, un paio hanno mostrato un
lievissimo orientamento mentre un solo soggetto, pur non arrivando a
manifestazioni di evidente paura, ha prolungato la fase di attenzione verso il
rumore.


Quanto
al test di difesa, due cani non l’hanno superato, mentre 9 hanno ottenuto il
punteggio massimo. I soggetti che non hanno ottenuto il punteggio massimo hanno
evidenziato reazione tardiva o non sufficientemente marcata nei confronti della
minaccia, così come i due soggetti non qualificati non hanno mostrato alcuna
reazione verso il figurante se non perplessità e incomprensione. Per tutti i
cani il recupero della tranquillità è stato completo e immediato dimostrando
grande equilibrio. In generale, tutti i soggetti sono stati penalizzati dalla
comprensibilmente scarsa esperienza dei conduttori che non trasmettevano alcun
segnale ma aspettavano che il cane se la sbrigasse da solo nel comprendere e
giudicare una situazione assolutamente inedita.


 


CHECK UP 
FOR HEREDITARY PATHOLOGIES
 

The Club Italiano Tchiorny Terrier (Italian Black Russian Terrier Club) is
willingly to promote and to take the initiative as to hereditary patholgies
prevention which are common in dog’s breeds, with special reference to hip and
elbow dysplasia, (HD, ED) and to progressive retinal athrophy (PRA). To such
extent the Club needs a technical scientific and veterinary support and an
economical support to start such actions.
This is the reason why,
in the year 2000 the Club made an agreement with the Fondazione Salute Animale (FSA)
(Animal Health Foundation), settled in Cremona, Palazzo Trecchi, whose chairman
is Dott. Aldo Vezzoni.
In order to get the
check-up for hereditary skeletal pathologies faster, in the Black Russian
Terrier, and especially as to hip and elbow dysplasia, and to set a remarkable
database c/o the FSA’s offices, the Board of Director of the Club, during a
meeting occurred in December 2000, stated that 
 

ANY MEMBER OF THE CLUB WHO
WILL X-RAY HIS/HER BRT WILL BE REFUNDED WITH 41,32€
 

The sum will be issued to the first 30 members
who will x-ray, asking for the official report, their dogs. The radiographic
test could be done c/o any qualified vet. The film will be later sent to the
Main office of FSA for the official reading . Any member who is interested in
this test, must ask for refunds directly to the Chariman’s office, enclosing
expense papers; once FSA will inform about the official reading, the Club will
send the due repayment..


The
convention settled between the Club and FSA includes the free official reading,
except  a flat-rate of postage costs,
and it seems that the check for any dog will be free.


FSA’s
main office for readings, will attend any regulation issued, as to hip dysplasia,
by the FCI’s Scientific Committee and with relevant updates, in Dortmund, in
1991 and by I.E.W.G. as to elbow dysplasia 
So far, reading results will be officially  recognised in all FCI countries.


 

TEMPERAMENT BALANCE MONITORING


 

From the Meeting of the Club Breeding Championship in 2001, dogs older than 15
months have to attend temperament/behavioural tests. The achievement of the
title of “Club Champion” is strictly linked to the getting through the
temperament/behavioural test, as stated in the club meeting’s regulations,
officially approved by the Italian Kennel Club, and the achieved result will be
reported in the dog’s title booklet.


The
CITT (Italian Black Russian Terrier Club) has decided that this test must be
compulsory in order to address breeders and lovers of the breed to estimate the
psychological features of dogs:


The BRT is a “utility
and military” dog and it must remain as such. A BRT, 
as the standard requires, must not only be addressed to a
“morphological type”, but it must correspond also to a “behavioural type”:
so it is a must from a specialised club, such as the CITT, from the year 2001,
to test and promote to that extent any breeding.
But let’s get back to
the championship regulations: the test is arranged to estimate the dogs’
natural good points by testing their balance, socialisation, nerve soundness and
defence instinct and it is divided into two different tests:
 



  
the
    first is addressed to the degree of social adaptability and nerve soundness
    when facing external unexpected and violent stimuli ( absence of reactions
    to shots)
  
the
    second is addressed to test the dog’s defence instinct when facing a
    possible threatening situation for his master.

 

Any test is given a mark (“A” or “B” for socialisation, “1” or
“2” for defence) stating four different final marks: A1, A2, B1, B2. In
order to be judged as able, and to enter the club championship, the dog must get
through both tests.

Tested dogs had been
never entered in work tests neither they entered defence training courses, thus
representing the best condition for our tests. Their reactions, in fact,
addressed judgement to a remarkable natural bent which had not been supported by
acquired behaviour or by former experiences on training field.
 

All dogs who entered the test, 17,  but
two, got their good result.
All dogs passed the test
related to socialisation with the maximum marks (A) but one dog who got B level
for a slight reaction to gunshot. All of them showed a high degree of sociality
moving around in crowded places with people making a lot of noise and without
showing any sign of aggressiveness and by staying quiet when the judge was
talking to the master. Most dogs did not show any reaction to the gunshot, a
couple of them did show a slight reaction with a tiny movement to the noise,
while one dog only, even if without showing clear signs of fear, lasted the
phase of attention to the noise.
As to the defence test,
two dogs did not pass through it, while 9 got their maximum mark. Dogs who did
not get the highest mark showed a late reaction or not enough marked reaction to
threat, so as the two dogs who did not get the title and who did not show any
reaction to the dummy but  puzzleness
and misunderstanding. All dogs got very soon their complete relaxed stand,
showing excellent balance. In general, all dogs were penalised by the lack of
their masters’ experience  who
were not able to give dogs any kind of signal, but who were waiting the dog
could solve the problem alone as to understanding and judging an absolutely new
situation.
